Awesome work!! Don't take the apple little horsey....the doll looks a little sinister.

everyday there was a mutual recognition of their friendship ...
the man fed the horse with his own solitary hand and covered him with his best, intricate mantle for when the days were dark and cold.
in return the animal provided warm shelter and the necessary steps to face the long dusty roads on the way to their destiny.

You make me laugh Ze :-D***
Many thanks Lady V!
How lovely to see you around again Hiam. You were missed :-) I hope you were away doing nice things, and not just working too hard....
Thank you Miss Happily Bitten :-)*
Thanks Kat. I had to scrabble around a bit to find it. I wish I could find hundreds of lovely old wallpaper patterns, and I would do more pix using them... I like them very much.
Thank you so much YO$HIMA! :-)
Yes, there is a discrepancy between the off beat look of the doll and the rather frilly look of the horse. He looks pretty keen on getting the apple though!
Aw Paula, I loved that so much! Thank you!!!
I've got a way to go Antoinette. My collaging is still pretty crude. These competitions though are a fantastic way of making you work at it .... They are such good exercises.
Thank you! :-)

Do you own this doll and horse? wish you could do such photo-illustration- magic for this whole book.
The Velveteen Rabbit. It would be perfect.
The story ends this way:

"I am the nursery magic Fairy," she said. "I take care of all the playthings that the children have loved. When they are old and worn out and the children don't need them any more, then I come and take them away with me and turn them into Real."
"Wasn't I Real before?" asked the little Rabbit.
"You were Real to the Boy," the Fairy said, "because he loved you. Now you shall be Real to every one."
All of it is here:

They are not mine, I just borrowed them :) But I love old toys, and I like them too ....
Thank you Helena for your very kind words! I like the background too. I think I will do more 'patterned' pix if I can manage to find some more nice patterns... We have a fantastic library at one of the universities here of old wallpapers and fabrics - but they have copyrighted everything so it is sadly out of bounds. Oooooh, if only I could get my hands on some of their gems :-)
Do you know I live on apples Pinky. If I left my body to science, all they would find is apple puree, with a current for a brain. I may just be a reincarnated horse :-)
Aw, sweet words SF! Thank you girl!
So glad you like it ineke :-)
Sweet Karin...what a lovely, lovely, lovely story. Thank you! No, I don't own the toys. If you check my tags you will see I just borrowed them. Most of my collages are made with borrowed stuff.... I love old character-full toys though, and it was a joy to use them. Your enchanting quote is much treasured. Thank you!

this apple is both an offering for the friend-horse, and an invitation to the passing traveler to enter into enchantment... i adore!! :))

Lovely scene of an imaginative mechanical theater....
it could be an old painting...a portrait of the prince with the red cheeks and his beloved horse beside him...the offered red apple of the friendship...

(STYLIZED - using artistic forms and conventions to create effects; not natural or spontaneous; "a stylized mode of theater production"
conventionalised, conventionalized, stylised, artificial, unreal - contrived by art rather than nature....)
Even stylized and immobile....it seems more real than real, more animate and moving in its stillness....invisible mechanismes and strings...automates with heart and feelings...i can hear birds singing and the float of a distant river.....and some strange words in their common language for two....Enchanted...

Thank you Chen Y.
Thanks for your comment Lynn :-)
Thanks a lot mhigginish!
Thank you very much for those kind words goat lady :-)*
Thanks very much for that Rob. I tend to fiddle around quite a lot with my texture layers nowadays, and with something like this which is fairly subtle, I never expect anyone to notice - so really, thank you very much.....
Your writings are always a gift Dimitris.... beautifully wrapped and adorned with precious ribbons, and the ideas inside are a delight. Thank you.

"They are not mine, I just borrowed them :) But I love old toys, and I like them too ...."

* I LOVE THE DOLL IN THIS PHOTO! I see from your statement above that you enjoy old toys, too. I have a couple of really neat old dolls. I wish I had your talent, because these dolls could be the subject/focus of some amazing photography. I especially love the eyes of old, hand painted dolls. If there was any irregularity in the way the eye was painted on, the doll could look crazy, sad, confused, demented, sarcastic... Maybe I'm the crazy one for seeing all that in the simplicity of a painted eye, but I have a feeling you might know what I'm talking about.

For example, I love this doll (it's the last photo on the page):

ringosrattales.blogspot.com/2011/04/edmunds-strange-dream...

It's one of the many dolls my grandmother has given me from her collection. But, I swear, every time I look at the thing, it looks like the doll is copping an attitude! She looks totally sarcastic, but sometimes she just looks confused. It might depend on how I feel that day... yikes, writing this out makes ME seem like a crazy person. LOL! Guess I love dolls a little too much.

The point is...I like your photo. Your work is beautiful!
